Mayo, Leitrim, Sligo Education Training Board (MSLETB) and Galway Roscommon Education Training Board (GRETB) piloted with mycareerpath.ie in a further and higher education collaboration to offer a structured four-stage programme to support and empower young adults. The program included personalised one-to-one career mentoring, skills development, career exploration, personal growth, and college readiness. Learners were provided with opportunities to develop skills relevant to their future careers, explore different career paths, identify their strengths and gain a better understanding of themselves. They also had the chance to build confidence, develop interview skills and set goals for themselves. Additionally, the program helped students identify progression opportunities, prepare for college applications and explore other education and training opportunities.

Testimonials
Grainne Dunne, Adult Guidance Information Officer, MSLETB
“I heard about the service from a colleague and I was immediately interested in exploring it as a resource for learners in the Further Education sector. An initial meeting with mycareerpath.ie coordinators quickly led to them tailoring the programme to our students and committing to a pilot project to be run over a 6 week period. I signed up for the service myself with the intention of supporting our students by having first hand knowledge of the programme. However, I quickly realised that it was of enormous benefit to me in my own career planning. The structure was comprehensive, logical and easy to follow, with an opportunity for reflection through periodic meetings with my mentor.”
Ruth McGonagle, Learner
“I found the personality profile and strengths profile really useful as it helped me see strengths I have and how I can develop other areas I’m not so strong in. The mentoring sessions were great to talk things out and get the perspective of someone who is not directly involved in my life. My Career and Learning Pathway Adviser was very helpful and encouraging and helped me look at options I hadn’t thought of and sometimes I find it easier to speak to someone who doesn’t know me.”
