Its workforce is vital to delivering excellence in education and research, navigating a time of significant organisational change as the university integrates its operations and unifies its culture across multiple campuses.

“MyCareerPath exceeded all expectations, there are not enough words in any language to say how important the mentoring experience was for me. The breadth of the course content meant that I got the support, direction, and challenges I need at this juncture in my professional journey, and the confidence and tools to chart my next steps. I particularly valued the course structure and time frame, as it pushed me and held me to account, but never felt overwhelming. Positive outcomes include improved goalsetting, increased productivity, and more confidence in my current role. I’m grateful to ATU for providing me with this opportunity, and I would encourage the university’s decisionmakers to continue to offer this programme to staff.”

I found the CV-building exercise particularly helpful, as it highlighted crucial changes I wouldn’t have noticed but needed to make, giving me a polished and professional edge.”
Jorden McMenamin, Library Assistant
“Participating in the pilot scheme for MyCareerPath was an invaluable experience to learn about my career opportunities based on my skills and interests. I found it useful to have a customised learning path that focused on my stage of my career to suit my needs. In particular, the psychometric tests of my personality and skills were highly insightful and informative as it gave me feedback for new job and educational opportunities for me to consider. The four modules I undertook showed various models and tests that helped me understand my professional and personal background and how to apply them to my work. It made me reflect on the wider organisation of ATU as a whole and the ways I can branch out to other departments and fields using the knowledge and expertise I gained from my roles...The mentor sessions were extremely interactive in a way that I feel would really benefit all ATU staff to have continued access to this service. It is important to be able to talk with other staff members about their professional futures and gain constructive feedback. I found that through my sessions with my mentor, I was able to plan my goals and gained support in reaching them. They also identified my strengths and any opportunities for further enhancement to encourage me to self-reflect.
The content provided through each of the modules also allowed me to explore further interests and provided me with tons of videos to learn more about specific skillsets, such as change management or interview skills...I found incredibly motivating to develop my understanding of ways to progress. It came at an important transitional time for me, and especially being at the start of my career journey at ATU, I would like to highlight this programme for its content and Lorraine for making it as empowering as possible.”
Programme Participant
“I found the programme of a great value for me personally and professionally. It was interesting to learn about myself and see how my skills have progressed throughout the life of the programme. I thoroughly enjoyed meetings with my Advisor. During the meetings it was easy to discuss where I am at and where I would like to be and through deep and meaningful conversations, I had moments of realisations of where in professional life I want to be. The platform on its own is a great resource when it comes to building on the skills and learning about certain topics. For example, the course about Change and Change Management was informative and eye-opening. In my opinion everyone in ATU should complete it. I found out that I could build up my resilience when it comes to dealing with stress and with my Advisor’s advice I searched for 'resilience' keyword on the platform where I found many videos and articles about the topic. There are many more benefits of the programme. My Strengths Profile confirmed that the role I am currently in is one of those that is a suggested Career. It is a pity that the portal access expires as it would be great to have it at hand for checking more resources as the need arises.”
