In the fourth and final episode of The Learning Journey series, we sit down with Dr Orla Flynn, President of Atlantic Technological University (ATU), to explore the role of universities—and ATU in particular—in shaping the future of work.
Dr Flynn was appointed as the first President of ATU in April 2022, following her tenure as President of GMIT from 2020 to 2022. With over 20 years of experience in education management, she previously held leadership roles at Cork Institute of Technology (CIT), including Vice President for External Affairs, Head of the CIT Crawford College of Art and Design, and Head of the School of Humanities. A native of Waterford, Dr Flynn has been a key figure in driving innovation in higher education, research, and industry collaboration.
Later in the episode, Dr Flynn is joined by a panel featuring Carina Ginty, ATU Institutional Lead on N-TUTORR and Co-Lead on ATU Higher Education 4.0’s Theme I, and Ruth Moran, Graduate Education & Research Integrity Officer and a part-time Doctoral student focusing on research culture at ATU. Together, they discuss the evolving role of universities in preparing graduates for the workforce of the future.
This podcast is produced by MyCareerPath in partnership with the Higher Education 4.0 Project at ATU, an initiative that leverages innovation and technology to create accessible pathways into and through higher education and employment.
